Five Approaches of BETT 2013

Five Approaches of BETT 2013

Actually, the recent one was our first BETT Show ever. As it was so huge that we cannot imagine before, we tend to take our viewpoint apart and create tiny posts to recreate the experiences we had during these 4 days. The first is:

BETT as an event

We don’t have the numbers, but there were also a Cisco summit and two additional professional conferences, so we saw people, rows, groups wherever we look. Entering only with your code on the badge, presentations, workshops can be visited only this way. It made some slowy saunterings sometimes, and should have been done by a tube-like check-in style out there, even though it was my most professional expo ever. They are probably browsing the collected datas right now: who and where, why, and when. Big Data Live.

Simulations, Loggers

The emphasis on these models and widgets were so strong (maybe extremly). From never seen stable-wave producent, to simple spring whatevers and robots. Modern tools for natural sciences, such a different way of learning physics. Btw I enyojed so much the so-called slope as a simple machine back then in the primary. 🙂

Sale

No comment on this, one of the key reason of this exhibition, though I couldn’t find any killer design company in this group of exhibitors.

There was a professional section of the event, with Bett Arena and much more smaller spots, two parallel sections with training proffesionals, and HEI experts. Sorry to say, but the workshops and arena speaks were more interesting than the 20 minutes long conference lectures. The topics were mostly about mLearning and BYOD,  Moocs, but the impressions merely showed entry level problems with no clean strategy or practice.

Lego

Lego was an independent category. This phenomenon is one peak of the edutainment scene with no doubt. It was enough to see what was happening around you and there was suddenly luchtime out there. As I see they can cover the whole learning process from kids to FE fields.

So these are the impressions for now, but this is the eye-candy level of the show. Despite twinkling, i felt sometimes the total lack of content behind it. It wasn’t big on eLearning, the methods, the surfaces and professional approches for the first sight, yet there were a few really nice sample, a very smart and and up-to-date solution. So we are going to post these experiences and progressive approaches here soon.
